    Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a warranty on your products?

Our handknit items are fully warranted, to the original owner, for the practical lifetime of the product. This does not mean your lifetime, although we would love to hear stories about our items being used!

So, what is “normal wear and tear”?
We handknit every product to meet our superior standards, but no matter how carefully you use and care for your product, nothing lasts forever. Items used every day will degrade faster than someone who only wears their product once or twice per year. Eventually every product will begin to show signs of age and wear such as faded fabric or frayed cuffs, and we take this into consideration when assessing your warranty request.

What isn't covered under your warranty?

When you’re busy chasing an adventure, we recognize that accidents can and do happen. Unfortunately, snags, rips or other damage to your product can happen and are not covered under warranty.

Improper care or negligence, such as storing your product while wet or not following the care instructions on the label inside your garment will result in damages that are not covered under warranty. It may well be that your product has simply reached its practical lifetime and it is time to be replaced. We hope you will continue to trust Lambs Ears Knits to make just what you need for your next adventure!

    Care instructions

Care for wool items is very easy!

Simply swish the item in a sink with warm water and a squirt of shampoo for suds. Work the item gently to get the soap throughout the item and squeeze the soapy water out. Refil the sink with water that is the SAME temperature as the soap water. Swish and rinse to clear the soap with the same temperature water. Yes...temperature consistency is important when washing wool items. Don't twist, just squeeze.

Now, roll it up in a towel and squeeze, or you can step on it. That works really well to remove a lot of moisture. OR you can put it in the washer on spin cycle for a couple of minutes.

Hang or lay your item on or near a heater register and it should be dry by morning!

Where do you get your yarn from?

I personally like yarn that is sourced in the USA, and I like sourcing from "the little guys". So far, I have been able to do both quite successfully! I currently buy my wool blends and Alpaca for many of my hats from a store in Bethlehem, PA and for my mittens I found an excellent source of Mule Spun wool in Montana and Maine. Yarn purchased at places like this can be more expensive, but I feel the attention to detail, from the animals to the final product, make the cost well worth it.

Will you make my hat or mittens from a different fiber?

After many years of knitting accessories for men and women I have come to have some definite preferences about the yarn I use! I have also come to the realization that what I think is best, may not be what YOU find is best for your needs!

If you find you are allergic to a fiber I use, but you like the style of the hat or mittens, then convo me! I would love to work up something custom that will fit YOU and your needs!
